Player’s Code of Conduct

 

 

 

1.0          Behaviour

 

 

1.1          Always show respect to your coaches and team-mates.

1.2          Always show a good attitude – i.e.: no moods, huffs, talking back to coaches etc.

1.3          Always be polite and show good manners.

1.4          Don’t be lazy.

1.5          Always give 100% effort.

1.6          Reply promptly to telephone calls or any other form of communication from the club.

1.7          Ensure that the changing rooms, playing & training areas are kept clean and litter free.

1.8          Maintain hard work, effort and regular punctual attendance at school.

1.9          Ensure you are prepared for all games and coaching sessions by eating sensibly and getting plenty of rest (i.e. bed on time, no late night computers/internet, etc).

1.10       No foul and abusive language

1.11       After a game, shake hands with the officials and opposition.

1.12       Always be attentive when being coached, ask if you do not understand.

1.13       You must listen if you are to learn.

 

 

2.0          Appearance

 

2.1          Please note that the academy policy is that all boots should predominantly be black with minimum amounts of other colours.

2.2          Haircuts and styles should be respectable when representing the club to show a professional image. (i.e.: No weird cuts or bright colouring, etc).

2.3          No ear rings to be worn when representing the club (including travelling to and from games).

 

 

3.0          Attendance and Timekeeping

 

3.1          You are expected to attend all arranged training sessions and games throughout the season.

3.2          Be punctual at all times. Whenever possible try to arrive at venue 15 minutes prior to start of session.

3.3          If you are going to be unavailable for a game or training session, please inform your coach as soon as possible.

 

 

 

4.0          Complaints/Concerns/Enquires

 

4.1          The coaches are always willing to listen. If you or your parents have any problems please contact them at an appropriate time.

4.2          Should you have a problem that you do not wish to discuss with your coach, parent or Academy Manager, you can contact the club’s Child Protection Officer (Mr Ian Deans – 01505 812667 or 07985 563244).

 

5.0          Clothing and Kit

 

5.1          You are responsible for the maintenance of your issued kit.

5.2          Should you leave the club, you will be expected to return all kit that has been issued to yourself.

5.3          Any kit lost will be at the expense of the player to replace it.

 

6.0          Health & Medical Care

 

 

6.1          You are responsible for informing the club of any medical conditions or injuries that you have.

6.2          Should a player be injured during a training session or match then the coaches or youth sports therapist will ensure the necessary procedures are followed to ensure the player reduces the risk of further injury.

6.3          Should your child be injured during a session/match which you are not present at then the club will inform you of the circumstance and the action taken.

6.4          All players will be given advice and where appropriate a rehabilitation programme to ensure a swift and full recovery.

6.5        Any player injured, needing treatment should first contact their coach who will arrange for a suitable time to see the Youth Academy physiotherapist or sports therapists. (Please note that due to the time schedule of the medical staff a few days notice is required).

 

 

 

7.0          Extra Curricular Activities

 

7.1          Technical homework will be given by academy staff to improve individual’s technique. All players are expected to commit to doing any homework given.

7.2          Core Stability Programme (Appendix 1) and flexibility programme (Appendix 2) are mandatory for all youth academy players. The academy expects all players to be doing these programmes on a daily basis. Fitness Tests will be conducted throughout the season which will allow the academy to assess if players are doing the programmes and what their progress is.

7.3          Goal setting and nutrition diaries will be allocated on a regular basis, each player is expected to complete these honestly and return them when requested.

7.4          Ensure that you practice away from the academy to improve your weaknesses. (i.e. 1st touch, weaker foot etc.)

 

8.0          Transport

 

8.1          Transport to away games will be provided for the players, should they wish to travel with their respective squads.

8.2          All players needing transport should inform the coach at their final training session before the match.

8.3          Any player travelling direct to the match should inform their coach.

 

 

9.0          Academy / Club Disciplinary Procedures

 

9.1          Any player that breaches the club’s code of conduct will be subject to the following procedure.

(i)             The player will be addressed by their age group academy coaches. (1st verbal warning). Should the situation not improve then;

(ii)            The player and parent will be addressed by their age group academy coaches. (2nd verbal warning). Should the situation not improve then;

(iii)           The Academy Manager will request a meeting at which the subject will be addressed. Should the situation not improve then;

(iv)           The academy will seek to terminate the player’s registration form subject to the conditions of release.

10.2        Please note that if you should not be satisfied with the situation and how your child is being treated you have the right to appeal, which will be dealt with by the Academy Manager.
